Every part of the world needs peace, especially my country Lebanon where peace has deserted it decades ago.
In the 1950s, Lebanon was named Switzerland of the east. It was tourist attraction from all over the world. The Lebanese people have enjoyed many years of prosperity till 1975 when the civil war started.
During the thirty years of civil war, thousands of souls were lost, families were dispersed, houses were destroyed, and misery touched every single Lebanese.
By the end of the civil war, 13 years ago, I came back to Lebanon to find out that cease fire didnt end the war. Lebanese people are still suffering and paying the price every day because of terrorism, explosions, kidnapping, insecurity and instability.
I am, like every Lebanese, like every human being experiencing war. War means fear, discrimination, damage of buildings, infrastructure, & economy and destruction of humanity. For what And for whom
I am like every Lebanese, exhausted of war, exhausted of negligence and irreverence of peoples lives. I am like every Lebanese, calling out for peace, for happiness,s for contentment, for security and reunion. So many people here are saying We dont want war, We only live once, We want peace. Lebanese people finally have realized that politics does not bring peace, that cease fire does not bring peace and that no one can ever offer us peace.
Dear friends, lets not wait for peace. Peace is not a chance. Peace comes from the inside. All we have to do is to think peace, to feel peace, and to practice peace.
As part of the International peace day, Im so happy to share with you how we celebrated this occasion for the second year. The celebration took place in a place that formerly was a prison. In 1987, it was turned into a public library. Today, it is a well-known educational center. Thanks to a distinguished Lebanese Tenor singer and notable musicians who contributed to perform wonderful musical concert for peace. We were surprised by the number of people who accepted our invitation, enjoyed the celebration and appreciated the availability of Prem Rawats books, videos and audios in the library for further acquaintance.
Finally, Id like to thank you for giving me the chance to participate in this event. May peace prevails in Lebanon and the whole world.
